2-For-1: Abbey & Freja

Photobucket

I nearly forgot that I ever even had an Abbey Lee obsession until this cover reminded me of how much I love her. She's Vogue Australia's August cover model and she is looking like perfection! I was a little disappointed by the editorial, but it is all made up for with this one as I'd say it is one of my favorites as for as recent covers go.

Now this one has me on the fence a bit. Years ago, when I first started to really get into fashion and could actually name models that weren't dating professional athletes or a VS angel, I had a total obsession with Freja Beha just like everybody else. Anything she did, I fell in love with. However, due to the Freja-overkill years ago I got sick of her. The industry has been less over-saturated with her for a good while , yet still, I'm not sure I'm still liking her work anymore. Here she is in an ad for Valentino's new fragrance and of course she looks gorgeous. I just can't help but think that with different casting I would take to this more. The concept of "oh, let's take an androgynous girl and soften her up" is boring now. Not that that is her fault of course but to validate my opinion I went through my old inspiration folder from 2008-09 and man, I miss that era of Freja. It may just be me, but I think now it is all just stale.

Sport & Chic

Photobucket

Anyone else unfortunate enough to have been struck down with the summer school blues yet? I just started classes this week and I can't believe how much work I've already had to do. Three 40-question quizzes just for one class already, which isn't even for my 5 hour Biology class. It's a bit of an academic nightmare to be honest but getting a full semester of classes out of the way in a matter of 8 weeks will be well worth it once it is all over and done with.

I thought this editorial was beyond perfect to post since not only am I already a sucker for a good ol' sports themed spread, but lately all I've been left time for (thanks to that school business) is getting my Euro 2012 on - actually I've got it on right now! So here is Zuzanna Bijoch, and a few cameo appearances from Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski, for Fashion magazine.

Instead, I Should Be Wearing...

Photobucket
I don't have much to show for myself style-wise as I haven't made any blog-worthy purchases in a good while, and playing dress-up with my own clothes just isn't going to cut it right now, so I've taken it upon myself to whip a little something together to get out of my boring fashion funk. The result surprised me a bit since this is coming from a girl who hardly wears black...

Resort Roundup

It has been a short break but I am happy to say I am back to posting! If you saw the previous post you're aware that I stopped blogging for a bit as I was badly burnt, and because of the swelling of my right arm and hand it would actually be incredibly difficult and painful to post because I couldn't move it much at all. My arm had to be kept at a right angle for about six days. It was no fun. My hand and fingers are now back to normal size, and though my arm is still a little puffy, it isn't a bother enough for me to not do a little blog post to show some of my favorite resort collections!

Emilio Pucci
With the inclusion of caftans, safari-inspired pieces, and the occasional swimsuit, this season's Pucci comes closest to what I typically think of when thinking about resort-wear. Olives and neutral tones were prominent throughout the collection but bold yellow and burgundy looks brightened things up, as well as the various  prints that round out the collection.

Givenchy
Speaking of prints, Givenchy went print-crazy for this resort collection! Paisleys, scarf prints, and a whole mess of others were heavily used, though the occasional cardigan and solid colored ensemble toned things down a bit. Another noticeable detail of the collection was the structured silhouette on various tops/jackets that featured exaggerated shoulders and greatly oversized sleeves.

Nina Ricci
The clothing at Nina Ricci is what one would expect. It is beautiful, ethereal, and appeals to the ladylike side that we all have inside of us. The wonderful thing about the "ladylike" side of Nina Ricci is that it is always just a little bit disheveled, making it just that much more lust-worthy. As for the actual looks, it wasn't really anything we haven't seen before from Mr. Copping, but it was lovely nonetheless.

Jason Wu
Apparently this collection was inspired by bugs, says Vogue.com. Bugs are not things I want to be thinking about when looking at beautiful clothing, or ever for that matter, but if Wu keeps cranking out collections like this, he can take his inspiration from wherever he wants! In what I would say is my favorite collection of the four, jewel embellishments were featured heavily. Stripes and different prints all varying in size and shape brought color to the collection.

The reason for my short blog absence has been that I was away for a few days having a mini-vacation with friends up in Wisconsin Dells! We had a ton of fun going to the theme/waterparks and just getting away for a bit even if the weather the first two days totally wasn't cooperating with us. However, the sun decided to come out the last full day we spent there! Although the happiness I originally felt towards the sun has now turned to agony since I am burned to a crisp!

Due to the amount of pain I am in, I'm going to take another short blogging break and give myself a few days to recover in tons of aloe and try to move as little as possible, then I can get back to posting and commenting! Now until I no longer resemble a crustacean meant for surf and turf dinner,  I'll leave you with a few shots from this crazy cool Russh editorial featuring Kolfinna Kristófersdóttir.

Don't you just love the Chanel + Manish Arora combo in the first photo?

Roundup: Olivia Palermo

The following photos are of everyone's favorite former reality star/socialite Olivia Palermo throughout this last week or so doing what Olivia Palermo does best: walk around looking better than everybody else.

It isn't breaking news or anything, but she really does nail casual dressing. The next time I'm feeling lazy clothing-wise, I'm going to think to myself, "Olivia Palermo walks her dog in leather shorts...so you could at least put a nicer top on than that." Right? It could work!
