Runway Roundup: PFW Spring 2013

Lanvin

Lanvin consistently puts on stunners, and their was no exception to be found this time! Really, not a flaw. Their spring showing featured gorgeous embellished jumpsuits, all leather looks, and of course the pops of color at the end for the mostly all black collection came from the structured dresses that Mr. Elbaz is known for. Plus, we got to see Kasia rock that black one-piece like no other!

Dior
As usual, well-structured and feminine looks made it down the runway at Dior. However, I will have to admit to not being sold on everything this time (a section of three dresses came down that were just too reminiscent of an 80's prom), still the floral printed skirts and pleated coat dresses made up for all that.

Balmain
It was all about structured shoulders, raffia dresses, and leather pieces (it is Balmain after all). The collection was all very late 80s - early 90s, which in my opinion, did not necessarily work everywhere, but when it was good...it was really good. Plus, I love a good cage sandal, so Balmain got me again this time.

Chalayan
Chalayan this season had sleek designs and well structured pieces. The looks were simple in the best way possible - the way that it makes you appreciate the craftsmanship of the clothes. The majority of the collection was white, with a few pops of color here and there, until the end when a section filled with graphic prints arrived that was very much welcomed. Chalayan honestly is not always one of my favorites, but this collection was just too beautiful to pass up.

Versace S/S 2013

Photobucket

As I've been playing catch-up quite a lot with the collections this season, I had no intentions of doing another post focusing on just one collection. I figured I'd go the "two birds, one stone" route and just do a MFW post today (I'm so behind, I have to skip LFW), but when I tried narrowing down looks to feature from Versace, it just became to difficult...an obvious sign that I need to go on about my complete love for this.

As I've said many times, Versace is one of my favorites, but let's be honest, Donatella never gives us the most groundbreaking, or the most tasteful collections, however like so many of her fellow Italian designers, what she does do is turn on the sex appeal. Here we have a collection filled with slinky, form-fitting pieces that give you as much skin as you could ever want on models that all look like they are straight out of the era of the Supers (except a little thinner). I love it. I want to look like that, wearing those clothes. It is the dream, and Donatella sells it to me every time.

Aside from the Versace fantasy that I dream about, I was immediately drawn in by a few specific details of this collection. All of the nude and black lace had me at the very start, it has to be either the black trousers with lace inserts or the blue dress on Andreea that will go down as my favorite from that particular section. Another standout in terms of the details is the amount of embellishment. Clearly not something unexpected from Versace, but a joy nonetheless. The studs are always welcome in my book, and you can put that fringe in the same category. Obsession can be the only word used to accurately describe how I feel about the dresses on Kati and Kasia, plus, I feel a major DIY with those fringe chokers...

So, it is safe to say that I'm in deep love with this collection, and now that I got that out, it's time to get back to seeing what else Milan has to offer!

Brood Spring 2013 RTW

Hi lovelies! This isn't going to be a typical runway post, instead I just wanted to say that this will be it for this weekend and most likely until at least Wednesday because I'll be busy celebrating my birthday! Yep, September 16th I will no longer be a teenager...it is the big 20 for me this year! So, with that in mind I figured a good way to leave off would be with these looks from Brood that I am absolutely living for right now. The floral and lace combo just gets me every time! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Runway Roundup: NYFW Spring RTW 2013

Altuzarra
In recent seasons, one of the collections I always look forward to most is Altuzarra's, and this season I was not disappointed. The collection started off showcasing a mixture of solid, striped, and printed looks with most of the focus going straight to all of the beautiful coats that made it down the runway. By the end, we transitioned to heavily embellished and embroidered looks that all completely stole my fashion-loving heart. Way to go Joseph, you got me again.

Derek Lam
Derek Lam's spring showing isn't one that I'll go on and on about because it just wasn't my favorite. However, I do love the combination of knits and leather, and the textured dress and skirts toward the end of the show won me over in the end.

Victoria Beckham
With a color palette of black, white, and orange, it was chic and clean designs for Vicky B this season. She sent well tailored looks down the runway, and sexed it up a little with a few hints of lingerie, cutouts, and sheer details thrown in here and there. Overall, a very solid spring 2013 from Posh in my opinion.

Catherine Malandrino
Oh Malandrino, so pretty in mostly whites and muted blues. Here was another collection that featured plenty of embellishment while still keeping the silhouettes mostly simple. This collection has suede, sequins, fringe, lace, and just about everything else under the sun. Thus far, this most definitely has been another favorite of mine.

Spring 2013 RTW: Jason Wu

Usually I like to put together my fashion week posts "Runway Roundup" style, however, sometimes I just see a collection and say "that deserves it's own post", and on more than one occasion Jason Wu has been the man to earn it. This time is no different. With a heavy focus on lace and leather, this collection has all the feminine touches you would want with just the right amount of edge. Plus, the perfect mesh booties to top it all off! If I remember back to a previous post about a collection of Wu's I can recall saying that the collection was exactly what you want from a Jason Wu collection, and again, I feel that the same can be said here. He stays true to what he is known for, yet always keeps things interesting. I just love this man.

(Note: Runway Roundups will be in full swing, I just have a lot of NYFW to catch up on!)
