Balti On My Wall

Not that their is anything wrong with the ever so popular ripped-out-magazine-editorial wall, but I prefer this. More personalized, less time consuming.

I rummaged through my folders to find a photo I deemed "canvas worthy" and came up with this. I have no idea where it came from or how I got it but a sequin adorned, black and white Bianca Balti lounging so carelessly could only add a little glamor onto my walls.

As for the canvas it is super light and the print came out perfect. My cheap camera does not do the quality justice, I swear.

Henri Lloyd

Recently, I was introduced to Henri Lloyd, a clothing label from Manchester, England.

At a glance, Henri Lloyd is for the girl who spends more time with her horses or sailing her boat than she does on her fashion blog, but those two girls can both admire what Henri Lloyd has to offer-practicality, functionality, and longevity. The brand offers classic pieces that will stick with you throughout the years.

I took the time to create outfits around 4 different items from Henri Lloyd that are translatable into any style and could be found in any closet.

Now, that is just the way I would wear it.

About Henri-Lloyd
Henri-Lloyd, a British Sailing Heritage brand since 1963, founded by Henri Strzelecki MBE has established over five decades a formidable global reputation for innovative design and quality in sailing clothing. From the early days working from a converted chapel in Manchester, England the company pioneered technologies such as; the wonder material of the 1960’s Bri-Nylon, the hand taping of seams for waterproof integrity and strength, the first integral safety harness, use of Velcro in clothing and with the Swiss based company Riri® the worlds first non-corrosive zips. The early pioneers of circumnavigation such as Sir Francis Chichester, Sir Robin Knox-Johnson and Sir Ranulph Feines were all adopters of this revolutionary gear.

In the early 1980’s the Henri Lloyd world changed forever when the über cool Milanese scooter society the “Paninari” adopted the Henri-Lloyd Consort jacket as part of their uniform, the very jacket that Sir Francis Chichester had worn on his record breaking circumnavigation of the world.

Today, Henri-Lloyd is the choice of modern champions such as Ben Ainslie CBE, Shirley Roberson OBE, Team Origin – British America’s Cup Team, Round The World Yacht Race crews, as well as Brawn GP, MERCEDES GP PETRONAS and many current music bands, sports and media personalities.

(Interview September 2010)
I'm going to take a break from trying to write anything with some sort of wit or snark and instead just simply profess my love for this editorial. Their is something special about this shoot and that is that the styling really stands alone. I'm not saying that I don't fall in love with nearly every loud and fabulous editorial because trust me I do, but I also appreciate a shoot that is not overshadowed by props, location, or the value of the model's name (even though there are obviously some impressive ones included here). Not everything needs to be an over the top production all the time (and that does not only pertain to this shoot) because at the end of the day when I open up a magazine what I want to see is the clothes and not some naked chick riding a horse or something. So basically, I like the simplicity and I like this because it is a fact in my world that nothing beats a good amount of layering.

Stine Goya Landscape Coat at Urban Outfitters

Now, not for a second will I be so delusional as to think I could wear this coat because
my small size will just not allow for it, but if I were in some sort of alternate universe where an extra foot was added to my height then I would be just fine with wearing this one. Even with a $61o price tag (remember-alternate universe).

I won't be rocking the D&G fanny pack anytime soon, but I'd snag that coat off her
