When an editorial doesn't correspond with the season, I tend to skip over it when it comes time to post because usually I'll just end up going on about how jealous I am of all those lucky people in the southern hemisphere who are living it up in the warm weather. However when I come across a spread like this one of Marloes Horst and Kendra Spears in Vogue Australia, I automatically start to right click-save because I think the photos are good enough to deal with a little season envy, especially when that Mulberry skirt is involved.

Below are all the things I picked up on Black Friday (with the exception of a leopard print iPhone case). I never took part in the crazy shopping mania any other year because I always thought that it would be too intense, and pushing my way through crowds and waiting in line is just not my thing, but this year I figured I'd give it a shot, because really, what else did I have going on at 12-5 a.m. that would be more important than Express' 40% off sale?

Spazzy 14 year olds knocking over mannequins and throwing underwear all over the place? I'll take a pass on that one.

Week In Review

Good Week:
The End Is Near - It was a busy week school-wise but throughout it I finished a final presentation for Human Geography, exams in Sociology and Math, and my last assignments for Journalism. Now, all I have to do is wait for December 8th to come and my first semester of college is over!
Pretty, Pretty - I've watched the Dior cruise 2012 film (above) over and over for that little bit of escapism we all need every now and then. It as especially perfect for the especially dreary weather we've been having.
Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Well, it isn't here yet, but realizing how close I am to being on break makes me so excited for Christmas. It is by far my favorite holiday and I can promise you that I will be spending the rest of my weekend trying to figure out what is making it onto my wishlist!
New Purchases - New sweaters, scarves, and jeans means I'll be that much more prepared for once winter comes in full force. Oh, and my nails will be too with the gold and glittery copper polishes I bought.
Little Things - Drinking an insane amount of hot chocolate, watching Misfits and American Horror Story, seeing Christmas decorations already up in public places, and Blockbuster free trials just make me happy.

Bad Week:
Vampires Suck - I had to sit through Breaking Dawn last night. I fell asleep. I won't judge if you're a fan, but it just isn't my thing. Oh well, I got some good friend points for that one.
New Purchases - Not really bad because it was worth it, I'm just totally broke now

.....And I think that is all I've got! Its a pretty good week when the bad isn't even bad : )

Today I treated myself to three new beauties that will shortly find their way into my wardrobe.

First, an Asos tee because I have been noticing a big gap when it comes to cute, casual tops in my life so I figured this paw print tee will do the trick

Secondly, wedges and boots both from Urban Originals because I feel ashamed to say that I have been neglecting my footwear needs and haven't purchased any shoes in quite a while. Plus, when is their ever really a good excuse to not buy shoes?

If my weekend plans go according to schedule I should have some more purchases to show you all later on!

How stunning are Juju's eyes? While admiring these photos I could not help but feel a bit of envy over that color, and now it has me wanting to go for a little look experimentation and give my eyes a little more "pop" just for fun!

I have contacts, but I’ve never tried color contacts before (though I have always wanted to play around with my coloring a bit). Seeing these photos makes me want to head over to Getlenses.co.uk and pick up a pair of lenses to put a little spark in my eyes!

I know in my last post I said I was officially off my little blog hiatus and was back into the swing of things...clearly I jumped the gun a little bit posting that since I haven't updated in an embarrassingly long time! Glory, Glory Pt. 2

In my last post I filled you all in on what I would be up to for a couple days, which was basically taking whatever measures necessary to get as close to my beloved Red Devils as possible without being arrested.

This summer's trip started on the more relaxed side since no extra travel was necessary apart from a drive to our hotel in the city before heading over to the Four Seasons to put our stalking operation into motion. From that point on things went quick and it was not long before I was in some sort of glorious red haze, United's crest everywhere I turned as I racked up autographs, photos, and free swag.

The first player to pop up on the sidewalk was Gabriel Obertan. That ended in an autograph but not enough time for a photo-a little disappointing but I'm not unreasonable. The man had shopping to do and I totally understood that. Now it was on to the next: Anderson. Anderson walking on the sidewalk. Anderson walking right towards us on the sidewalk. I was gonna get him, and I was going to get to him first.

After a little more waiting around we suddenly had to rush around the corner as there was another Obertan sighting, and this time I was getting a picture.

Next up...Vidic. He was rushed and didn't seem to be in the best of moods. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess the crowd of people surrounding him didn't help (not that that was going to stop me). I wound up getting a signature, and some photos of Vida himself, but none of the two of us together. Boo.

Somewhere in the midst of all of this a couple of members of United's staff brought out the Premier League trophy outside for anyone who wanted to hold it up and take a photo with it. A pretty incredible opportunity when you think about the fact that some of the best in the EPL never got to do that.

Around this time we had the chance to talk to one guy who worked for the team and he told us to stick around until 4 and he would have some surprise in store for us. HOLY EXCITEMENT. HE HAD A SURPRISE FOR US!

The time went by and when the man (I think his name was John) came back he gave us Manchester United lanyards and invited us up in the hotel in 15 minutes for a meet & greet with the players. Let me just bold and italicize that last part: meet & greet with the players. By the time I got through my mental freakout 15 minutes had gone by and we were being escorted to some conference room where we were greeted with a United backdrop.

After having them all sign, we got the opportunity to have our photo taken with all of them. Clearly, Michael Carrick was not aware of this part of the meet & greet. Fortunately though "John" noticed this and took another photo.

Unfortunately, that one turned out worse....except for Michael Owen. You're a real pro, Owen.

When the meet & greet was over, things kept going right for us as my new favorite person "John" told the handful of us who decided to stick around that he may have another surprise for us but wasn't sure. That didn't matter though, any chance of something happening was good enough for us...and good enough, it was.

We were brought down to the lobby of the hotel, told to get in a line, and wait. We stayed there for a little while, got some free stuff that included drawstring bags, pins, wristbands, postcards, lanyards,notepads, and other random Manchester United things until our second round surprise was ready. Four more players came out to give autographs! (They were leaving for training so no time for pictures, but everyone was too excited to care)

By this time I thought it would completely die down but who did we spot as we were leaving...none other than my bff from last summer NANI!

By this time they were on their way about to leave to go to Toyota Park so we headed outside with the hopes of one or two more autographs or pictures.

The one and only Sir Alex Ferguson signing my jersey, which would prove to be my last bit of excitement for the day since none of the players stopped for the fans on their way into the hotel once they arrived back that night.

The next day was game day! We went to Four Seasons for breakfast in hopes of sighting some footballers, picking up information, not getting thrown out of the hotel, etc. What we got was breakfast next to Kelsey Grammar, a sighting of Cleverly, the time of the team's departure, and before almost getting kicked out of the hotel I almost got myself in an elevator alone with Ji Sung Park. Seriously people, dine at the Four Seasons.

Alas, this day was a whole lot of waiting without much reward. We learned the team would not be coming back to the hotel that night, and instead would just be leaving straight from Soldier Field, meaning I only had one real last chance to see them as they left the hotel before the match. After what felt like 20 hours of waiting, the team got on the bus without signing anything of mine as my second row spot in the crowd just wasn't good enough.

However, their was one highlight earlier on that afternoon...GARY NEVILLE!

I got Gary Neville's autograph and he was nice enough to pose for a photo. He was trying to hurry back inside so to save time he asked this other kid who got his autograph to join in really quick so he didn't need to take two. Really though I think he thought he was my brother or something...? Silly Gary Neville, I don't have a brother!

Anyways, back in order now....
We headed to the match. United won 3-1 over the Fire and since United headed out of the city, we too ended up cutting our trip short, heading back home, and putting our supreme stalker skills to rest (until we need to bring them out next time, of course).

Pitchfork: A Non-Fashion Post

This past Sunday my friend Mirela and I spent our day in the midst of a heatwave with 18,000 other people in Chicago for Pitchfork. It was fun, but it was hot. Really, really hot and by the end of the day we were tired, dirty, and looked pretty disgusting...but if we hadn't left the music fest that way it probably would've meant we had done something wrong.

The only downside: lack of pictures. I only have a few photos to show because we were too busy trying to enjoy the bands whilst simultaneously trying to beat the heat because you know, passing out with heat stroke would have really put a damper on the day...

Well, it looks like I took a little unscheduled blog break. Somehow I just could not be bothered to update, and I'll be honest and say that I did not care one bit that my laziness got the better of me these past couple of days. I do care about these two things though:

"He Only Holds Fashion Shows When He Has Something To Show"

Catherine Lardeur once said the title quote about Azzedine Alaïa, and those words were proved right as the Alaïa fall couture collection seemed to get better with each piece coming down the runway. Beautifully structured coats in a variety of colors, fabrics, and textures started off the show, but it wasn't until the collection's halfway point that I was really won over. Mr. Alaïa did not leave out a single thing when it came to the dresses and skirts: crocodile, feathers, ruffles, lattice cuts, knits, velvet...that is a lot going on! Yet still, the collection managed to be a cohesive one, and made for quite the strong showing for the designer's return to the runway.

Kate Moss Weds

Kate Moss married Jamie Hince today and I personally can not wait to hear more details about the ceremony and see photos of just who wore what to the reception!

So far I can say that she looks beautiful, and I love that she went for a very subtle and romantic look. The gold detailing and sequins on her Galliano gown add just the right amount of glam without being overwhelming. So well done, Galliano - I may not like you, but you do good work.

The bridesmaids (apparently she had 16!) added to the angelic/bohemian feel of the wedding with their flower headbands, soft waves, and lightweight white dresses. Whilst the groom was looking pretty GQ himself.

Going by the first photos released it is clear Kate stayed very true to her own style, and the final result looks wonderful! Congrats to the happy couple : )

Some force in the universe must have realized that as of lately I was actually feeling pretty content with my wardrobe and therefore decided to put into my head that looking at Topshop would be a good idea because me not being bored with my clothes is so unusual that it might just mess with the polar tilt or something...

That universal force must know my weakness for tassels, and leopard, and ruched sleeves, and stripes...and all things that can generally be found at Topshop. I think I should just take it as a sign and buy this stuff. Don't you think?

Resort Roundup Pt. 2

Pucci

Brightly colored suits, sequins, and of course, plenty of prints were all a part of Pucci's resort collection. It isn't what I was expecting from Peter Dundas. Honestly, I was expecting more as the collection seemed a bit toned down with the exception of a few pieces...however, that doesn't mean I'm not satisfied! The coral dress alone has me drooling.

When I first saw the preview of this collection a few weeks ago, I'll just say I was less than thrilled. From the looks I saw the only positive was the use of metallics, because lord knows I love me some gold, but when it came to the rest I found it boring. Now I can report a change of heart after seeing the entire collection. Yes, I still think some of the looks looked a little...old, but for the most part I found the looks to be quite sleek, and I'm still in love with the red and purple color block combination.

Pops of coral, lilac, and seafoam green were mixed in with blush tones and neutrals amongst ruffles and lace details to create one of my favorites this season. This 1950s-inspired collection can be described quite easily. It only takes two words: simply perfect.

Acne

Acne played with volume to jazz up their clean, straight lines in this collection. However all that volume was a bit tricky, especially in one look where the model was one shopping cart away from looking like a crazed homeless woman. Fortunately, the majority of the looks were styled simply and to perfection. Count me in as a fan.

Rebecca Minkoff

We all love Rebecca Minkoff, don't we? I'm not sure how anyone could not! Easy and wearable, the collection was obviously 70s-inspired with a bit of urban edge thrown in as the looks went on in the form of leather jackets layered over scalloped hem lace dresses and shorts. I don't think I need to go on much about this one. Its wonderful.

Anna had me on the fence this time. I found some of the looks to be just a little too much when it came down to the prints. While others seemed a little too "prairie home companion", which I have been able to get behind in past seasons when it comes to Ms. Sui, but with the exceptions of the looks above, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get on board this season. So, I had to go back and forth through photos to make up my mind and decided that thanks solely to the printed shorts and drop waist dress below...I like it overall. But just barely!

Happy weekend everyone! I may not be in school anymore (nor do I have a job or anything) but I definitely still think in terms of the 5 day week! So, now that its the weekend I'm going to take a cue from Kickette and wrap up this week pros & cons style.

BAD WEEK:
- College Orientation Pt. 1- the first day was a disaster. An exhausting, miserable disaster that left me rethinking my entire life
- Blog Business- having to be polite to this bitch for months only to find out the chick doesn't have a single clue nor knows what taking responsibility means. Long story short I got screwed over. Should've called her out sooner...if only.
- Bipolar Weather- thunderstorms and a 40 degree drop over night. Somebody tell Mother Nature its summer, please.

GOOD WEEK:
- College Orientation Pt. 2- a combination of getting my test scores and the best schedule ever for next year left me on a high for the day. Totally done with all that rethinking business
- Catching Up- going over Resort 2012 collections one after the other. Reviews to come
- Little Things- mango-scented nail polish and watching Angry Boys. 'Nuff said.
-Music To My Ears- bought my ticket for Pitchfork--->* Hey Mirela!
-Futbol Fix- Euro Under-21 kicked off today! I'm kind of neutral since none of the countries of my ethnic origins made it : /...so I'm rooting for England for my boys Smalling and Welbeck!
-Money In The Bank- had my grad party today, you know what that means...gettin $$$

Now look at that. Good outweighs the bad : )

Graduation

A photo of me before going to my high school graduation in my Asos dress that I've already posted before. I'll be honest, this is a little strange since I don't think I've ever really introduced myself here (at least not in an outfit post type thing). Also strange is that with all the pictures taken my shoes somehow did not make it into any of the photos, but hey, just scroll down and there they are!

As for the ceremony itself everything went well with one exception. TORNADO. Except not really. The alarm went off for everyone to put their Midwestern skills to use and find safe, window-less shelter right as we were lined up, about to make our way into the room for the ceremony. Total buzzkill. No worries though because it was just rain - shocker.

Once we all survived the tornado that never was, it was all fairly uneventful. Nobody even tripped getting their diploma...not that I wanted that to happen or anything.

To celebrate my first real day of being a graduate/college freshman I bought myself some pretty little things including: 4 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts, a pair of wedges, a cropped knit, and some nail polish that will all be shown later.

Summer Wants

Today is the first day of summer which means two very important things:
1) I am done with high school!
2) I am done writing about how much work I still need to get done at the end of every post.

The second is extra special not only because I won't be complaining, but I can quit being blog lazy and post more frequently/comment faster/etc. Plus, I definitely want to revamp this layout a little. I love you Abbey Lee but you have been sitting on top of this page too long!

Bottega Veneta's resort collection brought on varying colors and fabrics as muted earth tones turned into bright magenta and cerulean, and leather and canvas became flowing silk throughout the progression of the show. Ruffles, stripes, and rope details could also be found amongst the collection of lightweight pieces. While I may not be boarding a jet to go off to some warm, tropical island destination any time soon, I can say that if I were I would most definitely remember to pack a few of those dresses with me.

OT: I know everyone is super happy now that Blogger is working again and I am totally in that same boat, but I'll admit that thanks to the lack of posts and my bloglovin being empty I actually got something done yesterday - the final paper of the 5 that I had to write before the end of the school year. It feels so good! Maybe Blogger should screw up more often : )

This week has finally ended, but it could not have felt any shorter. I got a fairly good amount of work done (this left little time for blogging), yet I still have so much to do in so little time before graduation! Ten days of school left and I have 3 papers to write, a speech, and then finals. Senioritis obviously means nothing to the people at my school. Thinking about it all just makes me want to take note from the above photo by collapsing on my bed and pretending I have nothing left to do.

Also this week I accomplished something on a fashion related note...I ordered this little floral number from Asos for graduation : )

At least this takes one more thing off of my year-end checklist

Edit: I just noticed that this post says it was published on Wednesday...I take it that is because I saved the photo of the dress as a draft, but I would just like to state that I am very aware the work week ends on Friday. Not Wednesday.

Here, to finish out the working week, are some things that I love right now:

These photos of Jacquelyn Jablonski for H&M magazine. It was tough to chose just a few to post since the whole editorial is gorgeous and the styling makes me go, "oh I should have gone for more of that look today" (don't you hate those moments?).

Gold Clock necklace from Topshop. Simple and subtle. I've been trying to add more pieces like this instead of heading straight for the over-sized, sometimes obnoxious statement pieces that I usually go for. Knowing myself that may not last too long though...

New favorite show: All On the Line! If you haven't watched it yet I suggest you do. It is on Sundance and is some seriously entertaining stuff. Plus, who doesn't love Joe Zee?

I don't usually deal with interiors, but I do deal very well with shiny things. Shiny things like Swarovski crystals. So when I saw the new collection of wallpaper designed by Karen Beauchamp for Swarovski Elements I didn't have to think twice about adding it into a "things I love" sort of post because really, how fancy would you feel telling people you had Swarovski wallpaper? Yeah, pretty fancy.

Currently I am in love with this editorial from the October 1998 issue of Vogue Russia featuring Jaime King, when she was still James King.

Whenever I look at older editorials, even ones that aren't that old like the one above, it always blows my mind to think that thats what was in magazines when I was however many years old (in this case I was six). I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I feel like I missed out! Its like this whole world was going on and my young self didn't even care. Granted, at 6 years of age I would not expect myself to crack open a Vogue but I do remember being either 9 or 10 and wondering why all models looked the same and if people really needed that many pairs of shoes. I like to call that the time before I discovered the power of statement pieces and a good shoe.

I just realized the last post I did was on Sunday! I was on such a good run for a while. Well, a post every other day is a good run for me at least. I'll just blame my absence on the sheer exhaustion that has come over me this week. No clue as to why...maybe it is the change of seasons? Good news though, I bought sandals (amongst other things)! Here are my purchases from this week:

More good news...I'm officially on Spring Break! Not so good news...I'm not going anywhere and it is currently 35 degrees. Basically that means I'm wearing the same clothes as when I was on winter break, so those shoes will have to stay put away for the time being. I'm not too disappointed though, getting to Spring Break was always that last hurdle before the year was pretty much finished and I just realized that now I have seven weeks left before I am officially a high school graduate : ) I'm beyond excited!

Lately I've been attracted to anything pink, which is strange to say the least considering that has always been the color I've despised the most. I could attribute my new found fondness for the rosey tones to the beginning of spring and all of it's girly, floral glory but that isn't what did it. It all started when those damn pink Jeffrey Campbells (that I still don't own) came out however long ago. Never before had I contemplated wearing pink boots, but I just fell in love and BAM color acceptance came over me. Now, many months later I'm still stuck on light pink

One problem....I can't wear pink. Pink and I just don't mix. Due to my light skin I would become instantly washed out if I were to wear a pink top or dress, so for spring and summer I'm leaning towards the following pieces to add some color to my wardrobe

Well the jury seems to be out on Emanuel Ungaro (love it/hate it; too much Givenchy & not enough Ungaro; its modern and sexy/its all sorts of trashy; etc) but for a house that was on shakey ground and is still trying to revive its reputation, I'd say Giles Deacon did a hell of a job. The collection hit on countless trends: lace, all things sheer, colored furs, and even those damn animal head sweatshirts that well, I am seriously over. That doesn't hinder my love though, and it is a big departure from previous seasons (we'll just discard those Lohan days) but it seems to be in the right direction.

Note: On my second viewing those trashy red nails caught my attention. I'm all about that.

I'm falling hard for Sacai's f/w collection, and it had me at those uneven layers. The combination of textures, as well as the neutral and earth tones being pumped up with rich burgundies, golds, and bright pinks also set my heart aflutter. Designer Chitose Abe's biggest accomplishment though? Doing the impossible and making me want to hold on to my knitwear a little bit longer, even when its starting to warm up.

All three top rings + set of 5 knuckle rings from ASOS

These lovelies arrived a day or two ago and I'm quite happy with my purchase- minus the fact that I had to play pretend in that photo to get the knuckle rings to actually look like they fit (hence them not being on straight). I'm not sure what sort of measurements were used but I don't know of any woman with knuckles that large. Not a problem though, I'll just have to wear 'em like normal rings, and after getting over my immediate annoyance I no longer mind.

As for the top set, I love them! I was about to buy in black instead but my need for new, spring jewelry made me go towards the coral. Slowly putting color back into my wardrobe is making me feel good.

By the time you get to read this I'll be back drooling over Altuzarra's mismatched layers of beaded dresses and parkas, the bold makeup, all things sheer and satin, and of course the fur-trimmed everything that graced the runway. Don't you just love the juxtaposition of it all?

Jason Wu winning me over once again this season with his use of bold pops of color and loads upon loads of lace. I will admit that I was not all that enthusiastic about most of the menswear-inspired looks, but as I found myself getting further into the collection my thoughts totally changed, and I can now confidently state that Wu turned out some fine work in my eyes. So much so that if lace masks were suitable everyday wear, I'd have to go for it. Alas, that is not the case, so realistically I'll just have to settle for a pair of those red shades. Not that I mind that at all.

For those of us living in the northern hemisphere, its still winter. Their is no doubting it, denying it, ignoring it, nothing of that sort. I know we are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of the spring and eventually summer months but hey, now its February which is basically March, and that is almost May and then you're into the summer. If that simple logic tells me anything it is that those sunshine-y months are rapidly approaching and that alarm goes off in my head that us girls have embedded in our dna. The omg-I-have-to-be-swimsuit-ready alarm (unless of course that doesn't go off in your head...you can just consider yourself genetically blessed then). Either way, we all have to think about the main aspect of swimsuit season. Of course I am talking about the bikini! It may seem premature but it is never to early to start looking and swimwear makes for great exercise inspiration! Religion

I don't often mention it but I'm from Chicago, and if you have any idea about what is going on with the weather, you'll know that a blizzard hit my lovely little state and many others. It seems as though the worst is behind us, but I think it is safe to say that I'll have to endure some more winter before I can add the slightest "spring inspirations" into my wardrobe. That doesn't have to stop me from looking though, and when I was contacted recently about Religion clothing I headed over to their website, straight to their last Spring/Summer collection which brought layers, fringe, and a chain belt that is making me want to reconstruct my old necklaces.

As great as the idea of a bare leg and open toes sounds right now, with the inches upon inches of snow on the ground I'll be sticking with Religion's f/w collection for the time being, and after having a quick look at it all, I don't really mind.

Last thing: Menswear. Never before has it graced this blog, but with styling this good I couldn't say no. Plus, the fact that I'm loving all their jackets didn't hurt either. Really if that last leather sleeve jacket came in XS we'd be in business.

You know a collection is pure brilliance when the hardest thing you've had to do all day is narrow down which dresses you want to post. Or how about when you keep clicking through photos while your jaw just keeps dropping lower and lower at the same time? Yeah, beautiful things can do that to you. This Elie Saab collection definitely did it for me. I look at these incredibly gorgeous, romantic, dresses-like-the-ones-in-my-dreams dresses and that sigh comes out. You know the one. The one that is all "sigh, if only I was famous and had a prestigious awards ceremony to go to because obviously I'd be wearing one of these. Then the next day I would be best dressed on "Fashion Police" and life would be fantastic." Yep, it was for sure that sigh.

Oh the things that pretty dresses can do to a girl...
