Runway Roundup: MFW

Moschino

It was just a good time at Moschino this season. Bright colors, a wide array of textures, and giant hair bows help describe the collection. Check patterns, cowboy hats, and everyone's favorite "Moschino" belt also featured this season. It was fun. It was youthful. It makes me want to pull out my giant gold hoops.

Blumarine

I'm including Blumarine for 2 reasons. First, it brought the tackiness that is just mesmerizing to see on a runway, and secondly like Moschino, Blumarine was another fun collection to grace MFW. I can't say I was a fan of everything (like the leopard print overkill section) but it began with a strong start with perfect ski bunny looks that made me want to lounge around some lodge in an oversized lavender fur. As the show continued beautiful and understated beige coats, followed by one gorgeous silver metallic trenchcoat, found its way down the runway. Like I mentioned earlier though, I wasn't sold on it all, because it got a little stupid in the middle. Actually, I'm still debating whether I like the photos I included, but what I do know is that whatever you do, do not wear these looks straight off the runway. You will blind someone.

Jil Sander

Nothing but love for Raf. Am I the only person that wanted to cry after reading how everyone at the show was crying? Yeah, I'm emotional like that. Really though, it was just wonderful. All of it. If I could just wear one of the blush colored dresses and sit in a garden being ladylike I would be so happy.

2 more things:

1) Gucci, Alberta, Iceberg <--- Love you long time <3
2) Emporio Armani <--- GTFO. Hated it.

Runway Roundup: LFW

A few of my favorite LFW collections thus far. It was a tough job narrowing them down because London is really something this season! I didn't think I would ever dare say it but it may be outdoing NY for me (or at least coming dangerously close!)

Peter Pilotto

This may have been the hardest collection to narrow down this time because their was just so much to include in order to sum up the collection, and really I still couldn't manage that completely. Besides the patterns that connected it all together, I fell for the cutouts, fun use of color, and figure-hugging fit of the majority of the garments.

Matthew Williamson

My FAVORITE of them all by far. Gold and printed pants, red lace and feathers, and sequins and fur makes for the type of collection that I fall in love with. I was thoroughly impressed with Williamson this season to say the least.

Marios Schwab

Beautiful and feminine, Schwab brought it with those finale dresses. Just another knockout collection. Plus, I think everyone needs a good black, leather trench...or at least they do now.

Antonio Berardi

With a great use of texture, Berardi showcased everything from oversize fur coats to sequin maxi skirts and I'm not mad at it. I loved his use of color (bonus points for the turquoise shoes) and the many wonderfully structured pieces of the collection.

Christopher Kane

Another collection where I loved the use of color. Kane was all over the place when it came to the darks and brights throughout the show, quickly moving from blacks/muted tones to one quick pop of color and back. Knits and outerwear also made an appearance this season, but my favorite piece just has to be that floral dress.

Note: I'd like to mention Mulberry, McQ, and Burberry also make my favorites list
(How could they not?)

All About Althea

Take at look at some of my favorite looks from Althea Harper's newest collection.

This season's summary:
"Inspired by a recent visit to Thailand, the FW12 collection features customized animal prints, hand dyed natural fabrics, knits and unique silhouettes. The patterns are tailored to fit and flatter the curves of the female form, a skill Althea learned while working at Alexander McQueen."

My take on the collection? Those customized animal prints mentioned above come across as some sort of tiger-reptilian hybrid to me, and I am 100% loving it. My favorite piece of the print set being the first dress posted. A feminine dress perfect to twirl in, but edged up with a good print? Count me in. Also, I need to mention how much I love the sheer panels in the pants that featured in past collections as well. Those are a major WANT for me.

While you're all wrapped up in the collection, take a minute to check out the pieces in action in the video below!

Since we're on the subject of Althea, I have to mention this killer opportunity brought on by NY-based company 1000 Passions where you and up to 4 people can get the chance to spend the day with Althea herself at her studio! Making it possible to vicariously live out all of your fashion designer dreams that we know we all have...

Runway Roundup

Photobucket
Custo Barcelona
It was all about prints and texture this season at Custo, and I was really won over by the fringe, fur, and leather that completed the collection, which I can only describe as pieces in the closet of the kick-ass chick that I long to be.

Photobucket
Behnaz Sarafpour
A very pretty, feminine, and wearable collection, Sarafpour used details like asymmetrical hems and leather pieces to add a little extra something to her work this season.

Photobucket
Carlos Miele
There was a prominent western feel in parts of Miele's show, yet somehow I managed to pick the three looks that didn't showcase that (though the oversized fur poncho was a very close contender). A variety of prints also made for a big part of the collection but the standouts to me were without a doubt, the gorgeous evening gowns that made their way down the runway.

Note: I left out the obvious blog favorites and heavy hitters like Wang, Theyskens Theory, Zac Posen, etc. because the minute I check Bloglovin' they are everywhere...but I love them just the same : )

Note**: Totally disappointed with Marc Jacobs. Not feeling it a bit.

I Love You, Prabal Gurung

Photobucket

As I was gathering photos of Prabal Gurung's collection for a "Runway Roundup" post I came across the not-so-uncommon problem of falling in love with everything, and because I don't want to bombard you with photos of every look from every show, I'll leave this to its own post with a roundup to come. I figured no one would mind. There's too much beauty to leave anything out.

It's early, but thus far this has got to be one of my favorites this season. It had EVERYTHING. Yes, you could call it overkill, but not I. Furs, feathers, metallics, lace, all sorts of sheer and shiny fabrics and it goes on...but in the best possible way.

Oh, and I don't know about you, but if I don't wear that finale dress on Candice, or Joan's sheer number, I'm considering my life a straight fail.

(Note: Yep, the Ricardo Tisci-likeness is totally there. Am I bothered by it? Nope. That's probably why I like it so much.)

Vlada Roslyakova's editorial for Elle, and it should come as no surprise to find out the wonderful styling is Kate Lanphear's work. The mix of "middle of nowhere" America with Gucci, Pucci, Balmain, Prada, etc. makes for a striking combination that I am absolutely in love with!

Wedding Bells

Like the above photo hints, Saturday I attended my cousin's wedding (reception)!
I was super excited to go because I LOVE weddings, but unfortunately have only been able to attend one before which leaves me to live vicariously through the ladies judging each other's special day on TLC's Four Weddings. Not this time though! I went. It was fabulous. Feathers freakin' everywhere. Right up my alley. Bad news is...I committed a huge blogger sin. I didn't manage to get any photos : ( so you will just have to believe me when I tell you it was gorgeous, and all of the dresses (Bride, Bridesmaids, Mother of the Groom, Mother of the Bride, etc) were exactly what they needed to be.

However I do have a few (low quality) photos of the outfit I wore:

(Sorry about the grainy photos - blame the iPhone)

A front view of my black suede/red glitter pumps that were unfortunately a little too big for me (even after getting them in 3 different sizes) from Urban Original

A closeup of my Akira clutch

To wrap it up, here is a better shot of the dress I wore, because you really can't see any detail in the above photo

One last thing: Remember to FOLLOW ON TWITTER and enjoy your week!

Let Me Update You

Before I start updating you on all things Kristen Goldstein/What Goes On, just take a moment to die over this Karlie editorial from Vogue Australia ( because you know I totally did).

Now on to business. I have totally dropped the blogger ball, I know.
However, all of the sudden, I am feeling all sorts of inspired which is super exciting because I had been a little out of fashion wack and just not interested, so I'm happy to say that that is over.

3 Key things this week:
- Going to see The Wanted in concert. SO MUCH FUN! Front row + a kiss from Nathan made my night/week/month. I would upload the videos but really they are all shitty iphone quality so I'm going to pass on that, but believe me when I say it was awesome
- Started the second semester of school this week. Thank god because I was getting bored.
- Last but not least...I'M ON TWITTER!

My username is @KristenWGO and I'd be happy to follow all of you lovelies back because hey, who doesn't love blog friends? : ) Plus, I plan on putting outfit pics and other fun stuff on there too. Seriously, why did I not do this sooner?

(Oh and one last thing, expect a giveaway very, very soon!)
